Hijacked 1000 days foundation is a non-governmental organization with focus on maritime security, hostage situations and inhuman working conditions especially for seafarers and immigrants. Until he was captured for 1000 days off the coast of Somalia, the founder of the foundation Mr. Ahiable was an electrical engineer with a Dubai-based company and worked on their vessel MV Iceberg I, the very vessel on which he and his colleague crew members were hijacked by Somali pirates.
After his harrowing experience in the hands of Somali pirates, his love and skill for scribbling and journaling helped him authored and published his memoir titled “HIJACKED, 1000 DAYS’ HARROWING EXPERIENCE IN THE HANDS OF SOMALI PIRATES”. His memoir was launched on 2nd of August 2019 at an event which also marked the launch of the foundation. Mr. Ahiable hopes to use this foundation “Hijacked 1000 days Foundation” to form a formidable advocacy group that would fight for the right of seafarers, immigrant workers and the likes.
Hijacked 1000 days foundation hopes to become a strong advocate for issues relating maritime security and hostage situations with a focus also on better working conditions for seafarers as well as immigrants. The foundation believes no individual deserves to be held against his/her will (abducted) especially in the course of doing his/her legal job.
